18Focus on Fun

Connor and I have never stopped having fun and playing with our friends!  Sometimes we talk about Dad and sometimes we don’t. It’s our choice. We have the power to talk about it when we want to or need to. It feels great to be able to take breaks from it when we’re with friends.

Even when things are harder at home you will still have friends who care about you and want to spend time with you. You should remember, though, that you may have more chores to do at home or feel sad or tired more often. You may not always feel like playing. Quiet time is good, but remember that it is okay to have fun even when your mom or dad is sick. Hanging out with friends, playing sports, and doing fun activities with the kids at school will help you through the toughest times.

Remember that no matter how different your life feels from other kids who aren’t going through what you’re going through, or how alone you feel, you really aren’t. Things will seem better when you are having fun with friends.

There are many different ways to have fun with friends. Some activities are noisy and happen with a lot of people around. Some are quiet and happen with just one other person. What are some of the things you do for fun?
